Our Scholarship Process: From Application to Selection

When can I apply for a scholarship?
Our scholarship application window is open. It closes March 1st, 2022 at 11:59 PM.

How many scholarships can I apply for?
You are allowed to apply for one or more of our scholarship categories below. You must submit one application per category. You are not allowed to submit multiple applications per category. For example, you can apply once for our pilot scholarships, and you can apply once for our aviation maintenance scholarships, but you cannot submit two pilot scholarship applications.
Our Scholarship Categories:
Pilot Scholarships
Aviation Maintenance Scholarships (mechanics, fabricators, technicians, etc.)
Air Traffic Control & Airport Management Scholarships
Other aviation scholarships (drone pilots, aerospace engineering, astronauts, etc.)
Wait for an email from an Association staff member
You will receive an email within a couple of business days after submitting your application. This email will prompt you to submit required and optional supplementary documentation.
Gather these required documents as soon as possible
Proof of permanent U.S. residency
Proof of Alaska residency or that you intend to complete your training/education in Alaska
A letter of recommendation (ideally from someone familiar with your aviation experience)
We offer scholarships for those experiencing financial hardships. If you intend to apply for these scholarships, you will need to provide supporting documents of your choice.
Consider adding additional supporting documentation
You are welcome to share any documents that you feel will bolster your candidacy for a scholarship. People often submit transcripts, additional letters of recommendation, awards, etc.
How to submit additional documentation
You will receive an email shortly after submitting your documentation (withing a business day or two). Reply to this email with copies of your documents. If you have not received an email, please email us at scholarships@alaskaairmen.org.
Receive an email indicating your application is complete
Your application is not considered complete until you receive an email saying your application is complete. You will receive this email after a staff member reviews your submitted application and all required documentation. If you have not received an email indicating your application is complete and you haven't heard from us in over a week, please check your junk/spam folder. You must have submitted your application and all required documentation by March 1st at 11:59 PM.
