I hedged my bet with 8th - 10th you had it right. It seems incredible that that vast area can honeycomb and disappear I wish it didn't keep happening when I am busy.
Still now the 'birds' can fly again. :)

Is that all it takes to drop the ice?

So how does it go just drop out of sight or tipping up ?

I hope it's not Sunday as I may miss it

Judith don't know how to break this to u but the ice does not sink :o it just melts. Gets honeycombed then breaks apart when the wind blows and melts............ 8-)

I'd just like to see it happen. Does it usually go quietly in the night or like a rolling growler of iceberg?

I'm just hoping the grass picks up it looks very sad at the moment doesn't it.

Okay all you Lake Hood watchers let's start guessing when the ice will drop in 2011.

Umm I'll go for the 10th May 2011

Unless I'm mistaken the ice must have sunk on the 7th which none of us guessed but I bow to those of you in Anchorage if I'm wrong, I'm just annoyed I was away and missed it. Judith UK
